Senior Accountant

Location:  Edmonton, AB (Permanent, Full-Time)

Our client is looking for a Sr. Accountant to join their team. This rewarding position will support the Financial Accounting team in ensuring accountability and organizational controls across all groups within the company.

The ideal candidate will possess strong financial accounting acumen coupled with the desire to be a hands-on team player dedicated to learning and growing their professional experience. At a high level, this role will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations, and assisting with audit processes.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Prepare month-end reconciliations and other supporting documentation.
  • Prepare audit schedules and facilitate auditor inquiries.
  • Assist in financial statements analytics for discoveries, discrepancies, and other issues.
  • Assist in regulatory audits, and annual audit processes.
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders, and work to improve customer service.
  • Participate in process improvement and change management initiatives as it relates to enhancing functional processes.
  • Lead and facilitate adhoc projects or tasks, as assigned.


Key Experience and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or working towards designation, is required.
  • 3-5 years of post-designation experience supporting multi-entity organizations.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles; with the demonstrated ability to recommend solutions to new situations.
  • Previous experience with intercompany schedules, budgeting, and auditing is an asset.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks while meeting competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Office Suite.
