Project Scheduler

Location:  Canada (Permanent, Full-Time)

Our client is looking to add a skilled Project Scheduler to their Estimating and Operations teams. This role is ideal for someone who understands how schedules drive both winning bids and executing work in the field. You’ll be the connective link between estimating, project management, and project controls, ensuring that plans are accurate, aligned, and built for execution.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Develop and manage schedules across the full project lifecycle: pursuit, pre-construction, and execution. This includes creating bid schedules that support winning strategies, maintaining project schedules, validating field progress, forecasting, reporting, and identifying risks before they become issues.

This is a high-impact role for someone who wants ownership, visibility, and the chance to shape how projects are planned and delivered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

PRE-CONSTRUCTION & ESTIMATING

  • Build preliminary and detailed bid schedules that reflect accurate sequencing, means and methods, and durations aligned to estimating assumptions.
  • Validate logic and productivity assumptions with estimators and SMEs to ensure bid schedules are defensible and execution driven.
  • Identify schedule risks and opportunities early; support contingency planning, tender submissions, phasing plans, and schedule narratives.
  • Provide schedule input during bid reviews, ensuring timelines are competitive, achievable, and aligned with proposed execution strategies.

PROJECT EXECUTION & OPERATIONS

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules in Primavera P6, incorporating actuals, field progress, and contractual requirements.
  • Collect and validate updates from site teams; reconcile progress against planned sequencing, durations, and resource assumptions.
  • Perform critical path, float, variance, and sequencing analysis to highlight emerging delays, risks, or recovery options.
  • Support project teams with look-ahead, forecasting, scenario modelling, and resource planning throughout execution.
  • Identify risks and constraints early; recommend recovery actions, resequencing, and mitigation strategies and communicate them proactively.
  • Prepare clear dashboards, narratives, and client-facing reports that translate complex schedule data into actionable insights.
  • Support Project Control function by maintaining alignment between cost, schedule, and resource plans.

GOVERNANCE & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Maintain and improve schedule standards, templates, coding structures, and best practices across bids and live projects.
  • Ensure schedules meet governance requirements, contractual milestones, and internal reporting standards.
  • Capture lessons learned from executed work and feed improvements back into estimating, planning, and future project pursuits.

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction scheduling
  • Strong proficiency with Primavera P6; experience with other scheduling software such as Tilos or MS Project is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing, means, and methods
  • Previous experience in linear construction is considered a strong asset
  • Exposure to both project execution and pre-construction/bid schedules
  • Previous experience with EPC and design-build delivery models is highly preferred

We thank all applicants for their interest in the posted position, however only those candidates that meet the qualifications of the role will be contact by our team.
